Varicose Veins
Varicose veins are swollen and twisted veins which usually develop in the lower legs that are caused by a weakening in the vein's walls or valves.
Vein
A vein is a blood vessel that carries blood from the body back to the heart. The blood is then pumped from the heart to the lungs to pick up oxygen.
Ventricle
Ventricle is one of the two lower chambers of the heart that receives blood from an atrium (one of two upper chambers of the heart). The right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs for oxygen and the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the body.
Ventricular Fibrillation
Ventricular Fibrillation (V-Fib) is a dangerous form of arrhythmia that occurs when the heart ventricles contract in a rapid and chaotic manner so that the heart either pumps very little or no blood. This condition quickly leads to cardiac arrest if not treated with defibrillation and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) within minutes.
Very Low-Calorie Diet
A very low-calorie diet (VLCD) is a doctor-supervised diet that typically uses commercially prepared formulas to promote rapid weight loss in patients who are moderately to extremely obese. People on a VLCD consume about 800 calories per day or less.
